Dry Needling & Trigger Point Therapy

These methods improve or eliminate pain, numbness, tingling, and other discomforts in the muscles.

Trigger points can cause radiating pain, numbness, tingling, hypersensitivity, burning, weakness, dis-coordination, stiffness, swelling, and decreased range of motion. When people refer to dry needling and trigger point therapy, they are referring to a hands-on technique that is used to eliminate trigger points from muscles. This method is often more permanent than any other manual trigger point therapy. Dry needling is the method of using dry needles as opposed to wet needles for trigger point therapy. Wet needles inject a liquid substance through a hypodermic needle while dry needles do not inject anything. These methods are sometimes also referred to as trigger point needling or intramuscular needling.

Dry Needling and Trigger Point Therapy Method

A very fine solid filament needle is inserted into the problem areas of the muscle. Most patients do not even feel the needle at all. The needle insertion causes the muscle to twitch. This repeated action is essential in helping to eliminate the problem areas. The therapeutic part of the injection is the twitch response.
